Cirs Sound 2, otro cine, april-may 1966

In the small world of amateur cinema of 8 mm, the expression "Cirse Sound" enjoys a magical halo, since it was the precursor of the magnetic sound by track incorporated in the film itself and, in addition to the quality achieved in this aspect, which today we find natural but that in its beginnings was a real feat,  given the limited sliding speed of the film at 16 frames per second.

It is stated that very soon – perhaps when these lines appear it will already be on the market – the prestigious Italian firm Rivoli Torinese will launch a new model of 8 mm sound projector, with important modifications and substantial innovations.

It is, as can be seen from the engraving that illustrates this news, a landscape projector, compact, modern line and small dimensions and weight.

The engine is asynchronous, but by an ingenious variable speed drive can be passed, without a solution of continuity, from the cadence of 16 to that of 24 frames per second, without the sound reproduction "crying" the slightest. A strobe disk, calculated for current of 50 Hz, with rings corresponding to 16, 18 and 24 second frames, orients the operator in the projection. A second motor that works whenever the projector is connected to the network, even when it is not running, take care of the refrigeration, which is caused by depression. It is a really "cold" projector due to the above and the new quartz lamp "Atlas" that is equipped, 12 volts 100 watts, with extremely white light and with a performance that is estimated to be in the order of 50 hours of work. For the centering of the pointed filament, the lampholder can be operated transversely and longitudinally. A preheating device protects and extends the life of the bulb. It is the first 8 mm projector, which has arms capable of coils of 240 meters, which means an uninterrupted projection of more than an hour. The threading of the film on the top roller and on the pressor is fully automatic. Its passage before the magnetic heads is through a flat and perfectly accessible corridor.

The electronic part is printed circuit, with 11 transistors, which provide a correct sound reproduction, with an output power of 5 watts with 4% distortion. The reading response ranges from 50 to 8000 Hz. with ± 3 decibels. It has tone regulation and separable speaker, which is incorporated into the projector cover.

Modulation is not automatic. In recording, voice and music volumes can be regulated at will. Magical eye of the impulse type. It has a single input for pick-up or microphone. A mixer with 3 inputs and 3 potentiometers can be purchased as an accessory.

It can be connected to voltages of 110, 125, 160, 220 and 240 volts. It has a room light, simultaneous shutdown with the projector turning on. Rewind very fast. It is equipped with a pass counter, tape recorder type, with capacity for 1,000 passes, each corresponding to 44 images. This device is very practical to locate a certain passage or to measure a time. Being a transistorized projector, at the same time making it lighter, it eliminates the risk of the valve melting, which always usually occurs at the most inopportune moment.

It seems that the CIRSE SOUND 2 will go on the market at a very reduced price – it is said that at about 13,900 ptas – which will make it affordable to the average fan.
